■ USB-based D/A converter

①&② Headphone Output (6.3mm stereo-phone / 3.5mm stereo-mini)
Headphone output ports (6.3mm stereo-phone / 3.5mm stereo-mini) connect with a headphone and an earphone. The protection circuit for a low-impedance earphone is installed on the stereo-mini port to optimize common general low-impedance earphones for PRODIGY CUBE2.
※Caution : Minimize the volume during connection. Connection with devices except an earphone and a headphone may cause failures.
③ Microphone input port (3.5mm mono)
The highly-sensitive microphone amp is used for recording voice and YouTube and is completely separated from the analog output port to prevent interference between input and output of sound.
※Caution : Input monitoring and stereo mixer functions are not supported. (see the microphone input usage page for more information)
④ Output Selector
Output selector switches headphone output and line output. The headphone output is selected as default, and is switched to the line output by pressing the output selector.
⑤ Volume Control
Levels of both headphone output and line output are controlled. (The volume cannot be controlled with an analog volume controller because the optical output is a digital signal.)
⑥ STAN-BY LED (Green)
The green STAN-BY LED indicates power ON/OFF of PRODIGY CUBE2.
⑦ USB Link LED (Yellow)
The yellow USB Link LED indicates that your computer recognizes PRODIGY CUBE2 as a normal USB AUDIO device.
⑧ Line Output (RCA)
Line output port connects with an integrated amp, a power amp, and an amp-embedded speaker.
※Caution : Connect an amp-less passive speaker to the PRODIGY CUBE2 using an amp.

※ When connecting to a PC, the latest version of the Microsoft USB Audio Driver built into Windows 10 is automatically recognized and operated, so there is no need to install a separate driver.
Set Windows 10 Sound Control Panel
If you run Windows 10 - Control Panel – Sound, or when you right-click the speaker icon on the right side of the Windows 10 taskbar and hear a sound, the Sound Control Panel is run.
※ When connected to a PC, PRODIGY CUBE2 is automatically registered in Windows 10 - Control Panel - Sound (Sound Control Panel).
Set the default device for Windows 10 sound playback
Select SPDIF Interface PRODIGY CUBE2 in the Windows 10 - Control Panel - Sound (Sound Control Panel) - Playback Tab, click Set as Default, and set the SPDIF Interface PRODIGY CUBE2 as the Default Device for Windows 10 sound playback.
※ When the default device of Windows 10 sound playback is set to SPDIF interface PRODIGY CUBE2, sound output is basically available from analog output (rear RCA lineout, front 3.5 phone jack, 6.35 phone jack), and at the same time, the optical output and the PCM digital signal are output from the coaxial terminal.
Use digital output (PCM Stereo / Dolby Digital / DTS Audio)
PRODIGY CUBE2 adopts precise coaxial digital output applied with optical output and high-quality transformer to support PCM stereo digital output of up to 24-bit 96kHz, so you can enjoy real 5.1 surround sound through a pass-through digital output supported by Pod Player and Windows 10 Netflix App by connecting to a receiver amplifier, sound bar, and home theater speakers with built-in Dolby Decoder function.
Digital output of DTS Audio/ Dolby Digital Pass-through
DTS Audio and Dolby Digital can be tested in Windows 10 Sound Control Panel –Playback - PRODIGY CUBE2 – Properties - Supported Formats - Coding Format.
※ In the sample rate category, you can check and test the sample rate of the PCM signal supported by the digital receiver, and when using an external decoder, please refer to the pass-through setting method which is described in detail on the Audio Track website.
Basic format (select shared mode sample rate and bit depth)
In Windows 10 Sound Control Panel - Playback - PRODIGY CUBE2 - Properties - Advanced, select Shared Mode Sample Rate and Bit Depth. (Analog output and digital output are common)
※ When using Dolby Digital / DTS Audio Pass-through output in Windows 10 Netflix app, Pod Player, etc., or when using WASAPI output supported by foobar2000, JRiver Media Center, etc., be sure to check the single mode.
※ When operating in Full Duplex Mode where both playback and recording are used at the same time, both playback and recording should not be set to 24-bit. If playback and recording are used at the same time and both playback and recording are set to 24-bit, the device will stop working due to USB bandwidth limitations on the system, so if playback and recording should be used at the same time, either playback or recording must be set to 16-bit.
Set Windows 10 sound recording default device
Recording of mic recording / Windows playback sound
You can selectively use the mic recording function (microphone) and window playback sound recording function (SPDIF interface) supported by PRODIGY CUBE2.
To use the recording function, run Windows 10 - Control Panel - Sound (Sound Control Panel) and select the device you want to use in the Sound Control Panel - Recording tab.
1. Record the microphone
To record the mic, run Windows 10 - Control Panel - Sound (Sound Control Panel), select microphone PRODIGY CUBE2 in the Sound Control Panel - Recording tab, and click Set as Default to set the sound recording default device.
2. Record Windows playback sound
You can record the sound playing in Windows without loss. To use the Windows playback sound recording function, select the SPDIF interface PRODIGY CUBE2 in the Windows 10 Sound Control Panel - Recording tab, and click Set as Default to set the sound recording default device.
※ Please note that PRODIGY CUBE2 does not support the 'Stereo Mix' function.
Set the input gain when recording mic
You can adjust the microphone input gain in the Mic – Properties - Level tab. PRODIGY CUBE2 basically employs a high-sensitivity mic amplifier circuit, so there is no need to increase the mic input gain excessively. Note that if you set the mic input gain too high, clipping may occur during mic recording.
※ Mic input monitoring function is not supported. When adjusting the mic recording volume, check the appropriate volume while making a test recording with the Windows 10 Voice Recorder app.
※ If you check Listen with this device in the Mic – Properties - Listening standby item, you can listen to the mic input through the speaker, but if you check Listen with this device when recording a mic, it may sound, so do not check Listen with this device when recording a mic.
※ The option of 'Listen with this device' supported by Windows 10 is only a loopback recording function that intercepts the recording signal from the input device and delivers it to the output device, and there is a delay of about 300 ~ 400ms between input and output, so be careful when using it.

When recording In Mic (or SPDIF Interface) - Properties - Advanced, select the sample rate and bit depth to use.
※ When operating in Full Duplex Mode where playback and recording are used at the same time, both playback and recording should not be set to 24-bit. If playback and recording are used at the same time and both playback and recording are set to 24-bit, the device will stop working due to USB bandwidth limitations on the system, so if playback and recording should be used at the same time, be sure that either playback or recording should be set to 16-bit.
Cautions for OPAMP Exchange
Replaceable OPAMP allows a user to enjoy user’s own sound taste by replacing OPAMP with another. You must open the case to replace OPAMP. As shown below, OPAMP should be aligned with the groove of the socket. Regular OPAMP must be used.
Dual type, DIP type, OPAMPs that can be driven by more than ±5V ( for OPA2134, LME49860, MUSES02, USES8920 etc. ) In case your OPAMP generates noise due to the problem with compatibility, you are recommended to ontrol the volume of your computer by 80%. ( for OPA2604 etc. )
※ Note: You must pay close attention to the direction of the OPAMP when you exchange it. Particularly, in case of a product damage or functional problem due to wrong installation of the OPAMP, we do not guarantee service free of charge during warranty period so please be cautious for installation.
